Location: Remote; Reports to: Chief Operations Officer (COO)
Overview: This is a foundational role in a startup building its operations from the ground up across Amazon, Walmart, eBay, and future platforms. You will design and enforce compliance systems that protect marketplace integrity, ensure brand and policy adherence, and support long-term scalability. No SOPs exist yet, you will work with leadership to create them. You will work directly with the Owner and COO to build audit-ready documentation, enforce MAP policies, and manage risk across all supplier and SKU relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Marketplace Compliance
● Monitor Amazon, Walmart, and eBay policies related to authenticity, documentation, and listing integrity
● Track brand gating requirements and secure reseller authorizations
● Maintain clean documentation for all SKUs including invoices, COAs, SDS, and resale certificates
MAP Policy Enforcement
● Track and enforce Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) policies across all platforms
● Flag violations, coordinate with repricing team, and maintain a centralized MAP tracker
SOP Creation and Audit Trail
● Draft SOPs for invoice validation, supplier onboarding, brand authorization, and compliance checks
● Build and maintain a digital audit trail for every SKU and supplier, including contracts and correspondence
Insurance and Indemnity Oversight
● Coordinate product liability insurance and ensure coverage reflects branded resale exposure
● Draft and review indemnity clauses in supplier agreements
● Maintain a risk register for flagged SKUs and supplier relationships
Cross-Functional Support
● Collaborate with sourcing, inventory, and repricing teams to validate suppliers and support dispute resolution
● Review inbound shipments for invoice match and documentation completeness
● Support alternate fulfillment strategies for gated or high-risk SKUs
Required Qualifications
● Minimum 3 years in marketplace compliance, legal operations, or risk management (Amazon experience required)
● Strong understanding of MAP enforcement, brand gating, and invoice validation
● Experience drafting SOPs and managing audit documentation
● Familiarity with product liability insurance and supplier contract review
● Detail-oriented and organized with strong documentation habits
● Able to work independently with direct reporting to ownership
Preferred Skills
● Experience with Amazon Seller Central and Walmart Seller Center and eBay Seller Hub
● Familiarity with COA/SDS documentation and consumer goods compliance
● Exposure to international sourcing and cross-border policy
● Background in legal drafting or paralegal work

● Invoice authenticity rate: 100 percent
● MAP violation response time: 48 hours or less
● SOP coverage: 90 percent of workflows documented within 90 days
● Brand authorization repository: 80 percent of active SKUs verified
● Insurance and indemnity coverage: reviewed and updated quarterly
